The story about #WalterScott by David Von Drehle is encouraging, i guess. The problem is that @TIME is no-longer “timely”, they are nearly irrelevant. Maybe the zine should rename itself #SorryWeAreSoLate.
Why suddenly do #BlackLivesMatter to an empire that wielded enough media power 50 years ago to change public perception back then during the mag’s heyday?
And one more that you won’t answer is: Why should readers, cynical and tired of the disconnect between what we know and what we are told to believe, believe in @TIME ?
Yes, your print sales might rise half a per cent. Sensationalism is the only way to sell a physical copy of a zine in 2015. And the mainstream will call you “heroic” but surely only a few talking heads will proudly don their sheepish loyalty to the industry. It’s a tightrope; my guess is that you’ve fully de-evolved into parody.
So while cops get away with murdering Black men there is no reason to expect a community-in-fear to feel safe because of a magazine cover. There’s also no reason at all for #TIME to pat itself on the back.
A true and carelessly guarded “secret” that white women aren’t just reluctant to admit but deny (still, today, in 2015) on moral or religious grounds. Learn how to spell and pronounce that despicable word miscegenation. It was the criminal act of communing (the puritan word for fucking no doubt0 with the opposite race. The idea that there’s an opposite race is ridiculoous, meaningless, proof of how archaic this nation was before being archaic was cool — oops, it’s NEVER been cool to hold on to outdated foolishly s70erst8t897s racist paranoia!
It’s never been determined which race is opposite of the other. No-one’s ever determined one race to be heated and the other icy (not in body temperature, anyway). Caramel brown isn’t the opposite of anything as far as i’m concerned. nor is the peachy-pink hue of scandanavians an opposite.
Interracial love is as old as sperm. It’s as natural as sleep and nutrition. It is on the increase despite the denials coming from shame-faced white women whose facesdon’t betray a bit o shame to the Black men who are jungle fever fans. My intuition would’ve led me to wrongfully assume that Afrocentrism’s popularity and influence on Black arts and thought might force some Blackmen to lie about enjoyingintercourse with a pale body.
Blackmen are often discreet about it but don’t really seem to be locked into an apologetic denial. Meanwhilte their lucky vesselslive life as if they’d never noticed melanated skin.
And here we are. An interesting footnoteis that whitemen do not share the racist shame of their female counterpoints.
HYRO DA HERO’s BOLD TRIBUTE TO THE EGO OF KANYE IS WORTH ITS HYPE
HYRO DA HERO is a writer, hip-hop poet, musician and will most likely master everything that sparks his intellect. And HYRO is a true hip-hop intellectual — a statement that’s both meaningless (an probably a bit racist). So, i’ll revise it and say that HYRO is a true intellectual artist. Hip-hop gets more shit dumped on it when people approve of statements like the one above which suggest that you can count the number of intellectual hip-hop artists on one thumb and a forefinger. Hip-hop we all should know by now is the Most Intellectual Art form dominating culture these days. That is until the next Afrocentric wave of intellect0based innovators put eurocentrism to even more shame (shame it deserves).
HYRO i think is paying a sincere tribute to KAnYE, undeniably this century’s most commercially andartistically viable artist OF ANY GENRE. And i think HYRO is doing a little more with his magic too. Just my uninformed opinion but i hear HYRO applauding the Ego of the African-american male as a Bold but yes also humble, Methodical engine for the Black man’s survival but also for His revival of lost arts and His revival of an African humanism that looks nothing like the horror that is european humanism. Europe’s even tainted the word “humanism” so i struggle to find a replacement. But back to HYRO and KANYE.
“Kanye West” has another element, an obvious one, and that is in its well-meaning, ribbing of the public persona of KANYE that people assume is the man.HYROknows that public personas can unfairly defeat a person, at least career-wise if the image doctors don’t rush to a celebrity’s aid. KANYE seems to have a diffferent value-set, one that is like or not, based on a perhaps naive assumption that honesty is always the preferred characteristic because without it our lives would be in far greater danger than they are now, despite rising violence in some areas of the country.
So, KANYE offends some of us with his honesty. But other than being a comic’s easy joke premise, MR. WEST hasn’t lost too much sleep or prestige. Or artistic integrity, as critics have pretty much praised every release of his career. And HYRO is speaking as much about KANYE as he is, i think, speaking to a society that walks blindly in hypocritical self-delusion. Some don’t understand it but hip-hop poetry in particular is social criticism. And a society without social critics really isn’t a society or community at all. It’s a struggle to live in the mythical “Make Room for Daddy” or “Brady Bunch” world.
Unfortunately, sides will be drawn along love Kanye/haTe Kanye lines in regard to HYRO’s song. And i’m sure HYRO knows that some confused people will like the song (for the wrong reasons) and others will hate it for the wrong reasons.
And full-circle, HYRO DA HERO has made another point, laid another level of complication to an alreadyshaky foundation of what we accept as truth and what we simply don’t accept.KANYE represents a lot of truth to a lot o people; to others, well they just don’t accept KANYE.
